To know Scott was to know kindness, strength and unwavering loyalty. He was a devoted son, a loving brother, the husband every woman hopes to find, the father every child deserves, and the friend everyone could count on. While his time with us was far too short, the impact he made in his 39 years will last a lifetime.
Scott was born on March 10, 1987, in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. From a young age, Scott exemplified determination and responsibility. He spent countless hours working alongside his father, where he developed the strong work ethic and practical skills that would define him throughout his life.
Scott was a proud high school swimmer whose discipline and competitive spirit carried with him throughout his life.
He was also an active member of his high school's AFJROTC program, where he developed the leadership, responsibility, and dedication that would continue to define him as a man. Scott was a dedicated Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflected the values he embodied every day; service, leadership, integrity, and perseverance.
Scott graduated from Brick Township High School in 2005 and went on to earn his Associate's Degree from Ocean County College. In the years that followed, he worked as a foreman for Firstech Environmental, where he further developed the leadership, problem-solving abilities, and strong work ethic that would become the foundation of his career.
On June 5, 2017, Scott began his career with the Lakewood Township Department of Public Works as a laborer. Through his dedication, skill, and natural leadership abilities, he steadily advanced within the department, ultimately earning the title of Supervisor. He took immense pride in serving his community and was respected by colleagues for his knowledge, work ethic, and willingness to lead by example.
Committed to personal and professional growth, Scott completed the Certified Public Works Management Certificate Program through Rutgers University in May 2025. Earning this certification was a significant accomplishment and a reflection of his dedication to his profession. He aspired to one day serve as a Director of Public Works, a goal he pursued with the same determination and passion that he brought to every aspect of his life.
While Scott was deeply committed to his career, his greatest pride and joy were always found at home with his family. On October 21, 2011, he married the love of his life, Amanda, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, adventure, and unwavering support. Their relationship began more than 18 years ago and grew into a partnership that weathered every season of life together.
Above all else, Scott was a devoted father to Amelia and Gunnar. He cherished every moment spent with his children, whether he was cheering them on from the sidelines, helping with a project, planning family adventures, camping, or simply spending quality time together. His children were the center of his world, and he took immense pride in being their dad.
Scott was the kind of husband and father who always put his family first. He was a protector, a provider, a teacher, and a constant source of love and encouragement. He found joy in creating memories with those he loved and worked tirelessly to build a life filled with happiness, security, and opportunity for his family. The love he shared with Amanda, Amelia, and Gunnar will remain his greatest legacy.
Scott is survived by his loving wife, Amanda, and their beloved children, Amelia and Gunnar. He is also survived by his devoted parents, Glenn and Louise Speidel; his sister, Stacy Hansson, and her husband, Christopher; his mother-in-law, Michele DeSimone; and his sister-in-law, Ashley Schoeneberg, and her husband, Eric.
He leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephew, Lorelai, Leland, and Magnolia Schoeneberg. Scott is also survived by his honorary brother, Christopher Romero, and his wife, Christine, along with their children, Evelyn and Nathan, who were family in every sense. He is further survived by his Uncle Michael Webb and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws who will miss his love, kindness, and friendship.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Frances and Frank Coviello and Leroy and Jeannette Speidel, and most recently by his father-in-law, Robert DeSimone.
Scott's love, guidance, and presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
