July 15, 1927May 17, 2020

Theresa Monteleone, 92, of Hackettstown, NJ formerly of Jersey City and Barnegat, NJ passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020. Her beloved husband of 40 years, Charles, and her sister Edna predeceased her. Her loving children, Gary and his wife Pacita and Lisa Ruggiano and her husband Jeffrey as well as her cherished grandson, Gary Jr. and his wife, Kristina, survive Theresa. Even though she worked for many years as an executive secretary, her most fulfilling and happiest days were spent being a wife and a mother. She loved to take care of family and friends, and she was the person that everyone relied on. Theresa, or Terry to her friends, was born in Jersey City and lived there for 61 years. In 1988 she and Charles moved to Barnegat to retire. In 2016, she relocated to Hackettstown to Heath Village Retirement Community to be nearer to her daughter, Lisa. There she quickly made new friends and was often seen warming by the fireplace in the Great Room or outside on the patio enjoying the sunshine and gardens. Theresa was an avid reader; she enjoyed swimming and the beach and was an animal lover adopting numerous dogs and cats throughout the years. An excellent cook and baker, she was most noted for her incredible pies. Theresa was an exceptionally kind and generous person. She will be missed greatly by all. With the current circumstances, services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Theresa’s memory may be sent to Heath Village Retirement Community, 433 Schooleys Mountain Rd., Hackettstown, NJ 07840 To leave online condolences for the Monteleone family, please visit www.shinnfuneralhome.com The Thos L. I love you Mommy, I always will. Everything I am, I owe to you. I am so grateful we were close and that I had the privilege to care for you later in your life. Be at peace with Daddy. I’m so glad he has his “bunny” in his arms again.
