Beep, to all who knew and loved him, is reunited in Heaven with “his sweetheart” Grace Atalese and their son Richard “Geo” Atalese. He is survived by his daughter Barbara Skoczylas and her husband Edward, his son Vincent Atalese and his wife Lynda, his daughter Patricia Atalese and Mike Olson and his daughter in law Lisa Atalese.
His 9 grandchildren: Steven Skoczylas, Lindsay Lewis (Jason), Kelly Anderson (Lee), Leslie Markham (Mike), Alyssa Truesdale (David), Vincent Atalese, Ashley Atalese, Christian Atalese and Jimmy Olson and 6 great-grandchildren: Riley, Lakelynn, Stella, Beckett, Lincoln and Valor , will remember playing Cards with him at Thanksgiving and will sincerely miss hearing his voice sing Happy Birthday over the phone to them each year
Whether it was mixing his infamous gin martini, pouring his precisely measured morning cereal, finishing his daily crossword puzzle or singing Happy Birthday, no one could do it the way Beep could do it and he would make sure you knew. Beeps family will miss being reminded that “No one likes a smart aleck” and family toasts will no longer be the same without hearing his familiar “Salud” to cap them off.
Beep cherished being with his family, his many years singing in the Choro de Italia in NYC and the church choir at St. Francis of Assisi, and also the Island Singers on LBI, his time served as the Town Manager in Ardsley NY, his years serving his country in the Navy, making eggnog at Christmas and baking his infamous Beep bread and all while wearing one of his many cardigans.
He was well educated, well read, well spoken, well liked and fiercely loved.
“La vecchiaia è una vergogna Dio benedica coloro che lo raggiungono”
