AGE: 73 MANAHAWKIN
William Francis McMenamin, 73, of Manahawkin, passed suddenly Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marjorie; and three sons, John, James and Andrew.
Family and friends were in attendance on Saturday, Jan. 8 at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, where the entire Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band honored William with Scotland the Brave and Amazing Grace among other tunes. Father Stephen of Saint Francis of Assisi gave a heartfelt eulogy. William's brothers from the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite held a standing room only memorial service.
William worked for the Saint Francis Church Senior Center as a driver for the adult program and delivered Meals on Wheels. He retired from Acme Markets, where he worked as the meat department manager for over 30 years in Philadelphia, Beach Haven and Tuckerton. He graduated from North East Public High School in Philadelphia and attended Temple University. William was a member of the National Guard for eight years. William was a freemason. He was past Master of Sextant Lodge in Beach Haven, where he served as Master for two terms. He was a member of the Stafford Township Volunteer First Aid Squad and Pine Shores Art Association. For many years, he was an active member of Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band in Toms River.
The family thanks all of the people he touched for their prayers and heartfelt condolences. He will be greatly missed as a loving husband, father and friend.
