William J Shrekgast Sr.

William was predeceased by his beloved wife Cecilia, son Gregory and brothers, Wallace and Robert. He is survived by his sons Mark (and his wife Jacqueline) and William, Jr (and his wife Sarah), and brother John(and his wife Cecelia) , as well as six grandchildren: Danielle Knollinger (and her husband Porter), Emily Shrekgast, Julianna Shrekgast, Sara Shrekgast, William G. Shrekgast and Isabella Ghanbary. He is also survived by one great granddaughter, Avery Knollinger, and several nieces and nephews.

William honorably served in the United States Navy. He earned a bachelor's degree from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ, where he played on the basketball team. He worked for many years as a self-employed communications consultant.

He previously served as president of both the Atlantic Hills Homeowners Association and the North Wall Little League. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants and college basketball, enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins and stamps and loved to play cards and the slot machines in Atlantic City.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00am-11:00am at St. Mary of the Pines, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ on Monday, August 11, 2025. A Mass will follow at 11:00am. A Committal Service will be held 11:00am on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Brig. General Wm C Doyle Veteran Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.)
