Born Barbara Gorchov on May 10, 1940, in Philadelphia to Jules and Sylvia Gorchov, Barbara grew up in Philadelphia, predeceased by her younger sister, Carol Stern, attended Olney High School, and later attended Temple University. She was a devoted wife, first to Ira Adler and later to Len Stier, and was blessed in her later years with the companionship of Philip.
Barbara was a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and creativity. Alongside her husband Ira, she helped run their family law practice, where she served as his legal secretary and kept the office running, even during his illness. Her dedication and talent earned her the honor of New Jersey Legal Secretary of the Year.
Barbara was also an accomplished cook and talented crafter. She loved entering cooking and craft competitions and proudly displayed her many awards throughout her kitchen. Her banana fritters and apple kugel were family favorites and will be remembered for years to come.
She loved serving as the Judge of Elections at her local election polling place and volunteering at the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, Meals on Wheels and synagogue committees and events.
She loved traveling with her family, playing bingo, spending time with friends, and especially treasured her longtime Greenbrier family. She was fortunate to have friendships that spanned five and six decades.
Barbara's greatest pride, however, was her family. She is survived by her sons, Michael Adler (Ashley) and Scott Adler (Suzanne), and her five grandchildren, Brynn, Jack, Ella, Jacob, and Ilana, who brought her tremendous joy and pride.
Barbara will be remembered for her strength, generosity, creativity, sense of humor, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will miss her deeply.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10am on Monday, September 28, 2026 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ. Burial will immediately follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge
Shiva will be held at the Residence of Barbara Stier on September 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
