

Bernie was predeceased by his loving wife Irma in 2016 and is survived by his daughters Janice (James) Bailey, of Georgia, and Cynthia (David) Schwemer of Manalapan. Bernie also leaves behind his sister Beverly Dajches of Arizona and his five grandchildren, Eric Bailey, David (Kristi) Bailey, Drew (Rory) Schwemer, Robert (Kate) Schwemer, Jason (Kelsea) Schwemer and two great grandchildren, Mackenzie Rose Schwemer, and Joel David Bailey.
After high school Bernie served in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Once discharged he attended the University of Hartford where obtained his Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Prior to retiring he worked as an industrial engineer. Prior to settling in Toms River 20 years ago, he resided and raised his family in Edison, NJ.
Bernie was very involved in his community and was a member of several clubs in the Lakeridge Community in Toms River, and loved to travel, especially going on cruises all over the world. He was also a member of Bnai Israel of Toms River.
He was loved by all who knew him. He will be truly missed but he will never be forgotten.
Funeral Services will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ.
