Dear Goldberg family,
I was shocked and deeply saddened to learns of Bert's passing. He was a great friend of vulnerable children and families and a thoughtful and caring leader. I will miss him.

I was so saddened to hear the news about Professor Goldberg. He was very dear to me, and I will always remember how much fun we had during the class he taught, the internship he supervised and the Israel trip he led. Professor Goldberg used to share his experience across this country to me and encouraged me to find my current job in San Francisco, one of his favorite cities. With my sincere condolences at this sad time.

Bert and I grew up together in Long Branch, NJ - cousins in a 2-family house with our perfect families - our Mothers (who were sisters), Dads and little brothers. The love and guidance he shared with me, even though we were only infants through 1st grade shaped my life and personality. I know his empathy, love, devotion to figuring out problems, genuine caring for HIS brother and respect for others...all had a profound influence on who I am today. I've loved and admired you all these years dear Bert and you will forever be missed in my heart. Nobody could have had a better cousin to call 'brother'.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Bert's passing today. I often find myself quoting him in my work as director of a local nonprofit. I will continue to repeat the stories he told and the wisdom he imparted as a professor at the RUSSW. He is a man whose impact will outlast him and I miss having him here.

Bert Goldberg was an excellent mentor, boss, professor, and human being. There are many in the community who will mourn deeply his passing, as his life epitomized service, love, compassion and excellence. I will miss working with him at the Center for Leadership and Management.

Bert was a dear friend. He was a wonderful social worker, manager, and colleague. I will forever miss his laughter, but will forever remember the lessons of life he taught me. Too soon to lose him.

A good friend and Mentor. I shall miss our dinners, theater going and baseball. I will especially miss just talking with him. A good man is gone.

Bert Goldberg was a wonderful person and a talented colleague who was devoted to social work's mission, services, and education. Faculty and students at Rutgers valued and enjoyed him; we were all better for knowing Bert.
