I have just learned about Charlie passing away and I am so so sorry for his loss. He was a dear friend to my late aunt Carolanne Rothholz and he was like a family member to us. He used to take care of her so I would see him quite often during my visits to NJ. He would take me to the temple. He would show up to pick me up every Shabbat, all smiles and dressed up with his smart clothes and wearing his finest jewelry. 

He was always speaking highly of his son and daughter and was very proud of his granddaughter Melissa. I hope they know how much he loved them. 

He liked to joke about my job back then. He would say to everyone he would introduce me to "she works for an Australian company, looks after South America region and lives in Spain". He would laugh about it all the time. He had his things, but who doesn't. He was a good person and he should be remembered like that. 

Shortly after my aunt's passing he started a nice relationship with a lady. He was very happy. I hope she is doing well. 

I used to call him every now and then to see how he was doing. I didn't realize it has been so long since we spoke shortly after Thanksgiving back in 2020. For the last few months I kept thinking that I should call him, that it has been a while since we last spoke. My G-d, it's been nearly two years! I wonder why does it have to come to moments like this to realize how we are caught up with our daily lives, small or big stuff that keep us away from keeping up with people we care for and care for us. I regret to not have called him more frequently. I honestly do. He will be missed.

My thoughts are with his family and close friends.

Charlie was a very good friend.  He was there every time he was needed.  I remember it was Charlie who drove me up to Newark Airport to pick up my new beagle puppy, Merlin--and Merlin always remembered Charlie when he came visiting to our house.  Charlie was also there for us at Dad's funeral.  He will be sorely missed.
