Soon after Lowell and I met and then married in the mid 1960s, I met his older brother “Big” Eddie.  With Eddie's wife Elaine, and their young kids at the time, I soon learned that Eddie was a person who relished being the protective father and family man.   Soon after I also came to know him as an energetic and forward looking business man who ran his own plastic slipcover business and then later I saw him as a careful and productive salesman of many home-related products like kitchen cabinets and carpeting.   Eddie was a good brother-in-law to me and I always felt welcomed in everything whether it was the home get-togethers, the special family events or the many trips we took together over the years.    I always felt included as a “sister.” 
 
For me Eddie was always positive toward the world and cared very much about his family and friends. He took great pleasure in helping others solve problems and dilemmas that they faced.  He also enjoyed discussing the latest current events, interesting ideas, new gadgets and products, even his favorite movies or TV shows.  But there was more to it than just describing his likes;  it was that he genuinely wanted others to experience the many pleasures of life.  He also was a great storyteller and loved to tell jokes.  He was able to see the humor in the things around us and this was contagious and he made us all laugh.  I would sometimes try to come up with a joke that he might enjoy, but I could never keep up with him.
 
When it came to the many powerboat and sailboat vacations we took together,  I always saw Eddie as the adventurous explorer who helped us to find so many extraordinary places ------  quaint shore towns, unusual marinas, hidden anchorages and river systems, exotic island chains and so much more.  And of course he wanted to find great fishing opportunities as well. He investigated and helped us plan many of our trips together which included The Jersey Shore, Biscayne Bay, The Florida Keys, The American & British Virgin Islands, Sandy Hook Bay and the Lower and Upper Hudson River,  Long Island Sound , The Great South Bay of L.I., Connecticut's Thimble Islands and so many places that we probably would not have investigated on our own. 

When I think about Eddie and his many interests, I often think about how he was a kind of inventor as well.  He would frequently come up with his own design ideas  for unique and innovative products or gadgets that he thought, if taken up and produced by a national company, would make him wealthy.  After observing Eddie's behavior and the things he said in recent years, I truly believe that he came to understand that he DID become a “wealthy” man after all because of his loving and close family that he had and the many joys that he experienced with them over a very full life.

I will miss you Eddie.  Farewell and thank you for all the good things you gave me and everyone.

I said good bye to not just my grandpa or any ordinary relative but to a really good friend who was always there for me. No matter what he was always there for me and could make me laugh when ever he wanted. He was a great man and a wonderful grandfather. I'm gonna miss watching football with him and miss his jokes. This message is from cousin little Eddie. Earliest memory - I was eight. Eddie was thirteen. We came in from Washington to Williamsburg for his Bar Mitzvah. I looked up to him as he was much taller than me.  As the years went by I looked up to him in may other ways. Although I eventually grew taller than Eddie I still looked up to him.  In 1958 at Kramer's on Lake Luzon he was the big guy that organized a hike in the woods for the kids.  We got lost. We found our back by listening to the phone call announcements from Kramer's. We had a great time with all the parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Everyone was still alive then. Later 1959-1960 he changed my life. I was a mail clerk on Wall Street making one dollar an hour. He taught me slipcovers which enabled me to earn ten times that much. I felt rich and because of him I was able to pay my way through Engineering school and spend a lifetime career in science and Engineering.  Later after retirement he changed my life again when we went partners in a timeshare.  Because of him I was able to go to many wonderful places that I would never have dreamed of.  I miss him very much and I will miss being with him in all those far away places.  It will never be the same.  I hope to see him again in my last far away trip.  Until then I will cry whenever I think of him or see something that reminds me of him.

I never believed that one day I would really have to live without the man who loved and raised me. When I was young I had made some mistakes, and one day I said to my dad, " Please don't hate me",and he replied, " I don't know I still have faith". Well because of my dad I changed my life.  He let me know he still had faith in me and the only thing I could do was the right thing.  I thank you Dad for being there for me time and time again, and I hope you are here in spirit so you can see how I am caring for your wife, my mom, and our best friend. and I May 7 he asked me to go steady. now we are engaged and planning to marry, and rich is the love that both of us carry.

My Dad was a great man, he was always there for us when we needed him. He loved to make people laugh, and was always there for his family, He loved to travel, him and my Mom went on many vacations. He will be forever in our hearts.

I did not know Eddie long but, what I do know of him...  He was loved.  He was very funny.  He was very proud of his Family. He was very loved.  I wish that I was able to make more special memories like those that I have heard about.  All of you are so fortunate to have had the time with him that you did and I know that you know it.  I felt honored to be a part of his and in all of your lives.  Bless all of you in your time of healing.

Please accept my deepest sympathy.  I was shocked for I spoke with him on July 3rd when the EMS people were there.  He said "George, I can't speak now, I'll call you later" ......
I am trying to find a way to get there, but it's difficult without a car.
Also, know that time will heal, as it has when Lylla passed in March.  It is difficult I know, but be strong and march on!
