Elaine Frances Nadler was born on November 1, 1940 and was brought up in Long Branch, N.J. Following her graduation from Monmouth University in 1963, she worked as a devoted school teacher in the Manalapan public school system for many years until the birth of her second child. As an innovative female entrepreneur, she launched a highly successful domestic employment agency that she continued to run for 34 years.
Elaine was an active participant in Temple Beth Miriam and strived to assist Israel through her long and celebrated work with Hadassah. She loved to swim, she had a true passion for travel and covered much of the world, but most of all she loved her family.
Elaine’s true joy, though, was the rearing of her four children and the knowledge of her legacy as she watched them blossom into happy and productive citizens. Elaine is survived by her husband of 28 years, Jim Costello; her four children Bonnie Pomerantz, Julie Schottland-Cox, Joseph Schottland, and Alyssa Bauman as well as her 9 grandchildren; Charlie Pomerantz, Sylvie Cox, Nicky Pomerantz, Sara Bauman, Sofia Schottland, Leyla Bauman, Collette Schottland, Soleil Bauman, Audrey Schottland, and Jaqueline Schottland.
Shiva will take place at the Costello residence at 59 Merion Lane, Jackson NJ 08527 immediately following the burial at approximately 5:30 PM until 8 on the 12th and on Friday the 13th between 12 and 3:30 PM and 5:30 and 8PM.
