Tender Heart, Honest Soul

Harriet Barbara Cohen, 85, most recently of Monroe Township, NJ, passed away on June 4, 2020. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph H. Cohen in 2016. They were married just shy of sixty years. Mother is survived by her sons, Bruce and Marc. Born in the Bronx, as a child she would sometimes work at the candy counter in her grandparents’ grocery store. Harriet attended Christopher Columbus High School and Hunter College. Upon marriage, Harriet and Joseph lived in Ridgefield and New Milford before settling in Edison, NJ. Harriet worked at Rutgers University for twenty years as an administrative assistant in the Psychology, Anthropology, and Plastics Recycling departments. Harriet is a former President of Sisterhood at Edison Temple Beth-El, and was an active member of Hadassah and Brandeis organizations. She enjoyed spending time with friends at Mirror Lake Beach Club. Some of her favorite hobbies were playing mah jong, ping pong, gardening, knitting, traveling and dancing. She had an affinity for canaries and parakeets. Harriet will forever remain in our hearts.
