Known also as Harz, Har, Mommy, Mom, Ma, Grandma, Gram, Gigi, and Gunga Gigi, she was beloved by many, including her three children—Michael Farber (Robin), Cathi Provost (Paul),
and Lynda Stock (Michael)— seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Lover of golf, art, birds, and the New York Giants, Brando, Puccini, and crossword puzzles, Harriet was a deep thinker with a quiet presence and an ever-optimistic outlook; she was sharp
and determined, dependable and trustworthy, and a treasured well of unconditional love for those lucky enough to be close to her.
Born in Newark, Harriet spent her summers in Bradley Beach and was drum majorette at Weequahic High School. She had a hand in many family businesses throughout the years, from working at The Wonder Bar in Elizabeth to co-owning Tep’s in Rahway and Mike and Nellies Steak & Seafood in Oakhurst.
Harriet is predeceased by her parents, Irving and Anne Schnur (nee Luber), and her brother, Allen Schnur, and is survived by sisters Sheila Saunders and Beverly Cronin. She is also
predeceased by Nelson Farber, her husband of 53 years. The love and devotion shared by Harriet and Nelson set the template for the generations that have followed; he’s been waiting a
long time time to see her, and already has their tee time booked.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
Shiva to follow until 8:30 p.m. at 10 Emerald Drive, Morganville, NJ, 07751.
