Jenny Holt

Jenny Holt, 93, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Applewood Estates in Freehold, N.J. Services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of Israel, Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, N.J. Family and friends are invited to meet at the cemetery office at 10:30A.M before the service begins. Funeral services are under the direction of Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, NJ. Jenny was born in Lodz, Poland and was a Holocaust survivor. She met her husband, Irving Holt, after liberation and married and immigrated to the United States in 1946. She lived in Newark, Hillside and Springfield, NJ, Lauderhill, Lake Worth and Palm Beach, FL before moving with Irving to Applewood Estates in Freehold, NJ in 2011. Jenny was a member of Sinai Congregation in Hillside, N.J. and Temple Beth Tikvah in Lake Worth, FL. She was an accomplished painter and sculptor and enjoyed cooking, fashion, playing mah-jongg, and Kalooki. Jenny had a very successful career at Saks Fifth Avenue in Springfield, NJ as a manager in a number of departments.

Jenny is survived by her husband of 70 years, Irving Holt, her daughter and son-in-law, Dot and Frank Cheriff of Monroe Township, NJ; her son and daughter-in-law, Allan and Shelley Holt of Washington, DC; her four grandchildren Adam Cheriff and his wife Valerie of New Rochelle, NY; Danielle Esposito and her husband Michael of Westfield, NJ; David Holt and his wife Melissa of Denver, Colorado and Ryan Holt of Bethesda, MD. Jenny is also survived by her four great grandchildren Jared Cheriff, Tyler Cheriff, Dylan Esposito and Talia Esposito, her sisters Esther Drew of West Orange, NJ and Sally Wolfe of Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased by her sister Susan Rohde. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The Period of Mourning will be observed at the Residence of Frank and Dot Cheriff 122 Kings Mill Road, Monroe Township, New Jersey 08831 on Thursday following the entombment until 6:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
