Our sorrow continues. It is with a heavy heart that we share the very sad news that our beloved father, Joseph Zweig, has passed away. He was husband to Irene Katz Zweig, of blessed memory, for 58 years. In addition to being survived by his three daughters, Lisa, Jennifer and Jill, and three sons in law, Marc, Stephen and Paul, Joe is survived by his loving grandchildren, Rachael & Craig, Josh & Myriam, Jason, Jacob, and Ashley as well as his sweet great-grandchild Logan and special dog Bonnie. He is also survived by his only sister, Lyn, and was uncle to Paul and his wife Samantha, and Richard, of blessed memory, and his wife Rusty.
Joe was born in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Brooklyn, New York as an older teenager where he made lifelong friends Butch, Jim, Ed and Jim. He was honorably discharged from the army in 1967. As an adult, Joe He worked in reinsurance and earned his MBA and CPCU. His favorite story about work was having a board meeting that took place actually in the water in the Caribbean Sea. He was known as farmer Joe in the Colonia neighborhood of our childhood, for his plentiful backyard garden. Our home was always filled with big dogs and a cat. Our dad was an avid stamp collector his entire life, although we are uncertain if his grandchildren even know what a stamp is! He loved to play cards and board games from Candyland to Risk. His grandchildren spent many competitive hours playing Monopoly and realizing that Grandpa really liked to win! Joe loved to travel and instilled that love in our Mom and each of us. He really looked forward to the Wednesday morning men’s breakfasts and hanging with men.
Joe loved his family more than anything and he loved his wife the most.
Our Dad is deeply loved and although he will be deeply missed, we truly believe he will be at peace with his wife Irene.
