Born on November 15, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, Marilyn was the cherished daughter and only child of Beatrice and Leon. A proud first-generation American, she was the daughter of Jewish Romanian immigrants and carried that heritage with pride throughout her life.
Marilyn grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, where she met the love of her life and soulmate, Howard Heiss, as a young girl. Their love story spanned 70 years, and they were married for 63 years, building a lifetime of memories, devotion, and friendship together.
After attending Brooklyn College, Marilyn became an elementary school teacher. In 1970, she and Howard moved to Marlboro, New Jersey, where they raised their family and built a life together in the home she continued to live in for more than five decades and where she peacefully passed away.
Marilyn later joined the family business founded by Howard, working side by side with both of her children. Her dedication, warmth, and strong work ethic remained evident as she continued working until shortly before her passing.
Marilyn is survived by her devoted husband, Howard Heiss; her daughter, Lori and her husband, Mike; her son, Lee and his wife, Rachel; and her beloved grandchildren, Dara and Jared.
Known for her beautiful blue eyes, radiant smile, and warm spirit, Marilyn had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome. She was loved by all who knew her and brought light, kindness, and laughter wherever she went. Her love for her family was the center of her life, and her legacy will live on through the generations she cherished so deeply.
