Marvin was a selfless and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his mother Fannie, his father Charlie, his sisters Irene and Sylvia, and his brother-in-law Michael Teitelbaum. He is survived by his loving wife Ellen Chodes of 57 years, daughter Mindy and son-in-law Robbie Hebenstreit, son Gary and daughter-in-law Becky Chodes, daughter Jill Chodes-Henault and her Partner Tom Whalen, son Richard and daughter-in-law Wendy Chodes, sister Carol Chodes, 9 Grandchildren; Justin Hebenstreit and his Fiancé Sarah Diver, Joshua Hebenstreit, Jessica Henault, Matthew, Adam, Laura, Allie, Corey, and Jordan Chodes, and his beloved dog Henry.
Marvin was a Veteran in the U.S. Army and received his Master’s degree in engineering from Columbia University. He worked for Kollsman Inc. for 37 years and raised his family in Teaneck, New Jersey before moving to Manchester, New Hampshire and then retiring to Columbus New Jersey. Marvin was an avid Tennis Player and loved to dance with his wife. He was also known for writing beautiful poetry. He will always be remembered for his generosity, caring nature and love for his family.
A graveside service will occur at 2:00 PM at Beth Israel Cemetery,1098 Woodbridge Center Drive, Woodbridge, New Jersey 07095.
The period of mourning will be observed at the residence of Ellen Chodes on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM and on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
