
On Friday, March 5, 2021, Melvin “Mel” Warren, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and cousin passed away peacefully at the age of 82. Mel was born on September 12,1938, in Brooklyn, New York. He married the love of his life, Hildy Grodjeski Warren on September 1, 1963, and they relocated to Marlboro, New Jersey in 1969. Mel attended the City College of New York, New York University and Brooklyn Law School. Mel was a dedicated New York City school teacher and administrator for many years and later devoted himself to the practice of law beginning in 1976, until his retirement in the early 2000’s.
Mel was active in local politics in the Township of Marlboro and Monmouth County, and he was routinely called upon by politicians and friends alike to provide guidance and counsel. He was known to all as a good listener, a calming influence and a bit of a jokester. Mel enjoyed spending time at the Jersey Shore with his family.
Mel will be missed, but not forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father Sidney, his mother Rita, and his sister Fran. He is survived by his wife, Hildy, his three sons Richard (Halli Cohn), Robert (Stefanie Fogel) and Scott (Julie Lurie), his loving grandchildren Sydney, Carly, Daniela, Griffin, Justin and Maizey, along with cousins, nieces and nephews.
A private graveside burial service was held on Monday, March 8th. Donations can be made in Mel’s name to Partners In Healing Foundation, C/O Dr. Michael J. Nissenblatt, J2 Brier Hill Ct, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
