Mildred Giventer was born on January 27, 1927 to Ida and Sam Rashkin. They resided in Linden, NJ with her brother, Arnold, until they moved to Rahway NJ in 1948. She married in September 1950 to Sidney Giventer then moved to Staten Island, NY where they lived for 30 years until Sidney passed. Mildred and Sidney had two sons, Curtis of Saranac, NY and Barnet, and wife Donna (a daughter to her and angel on earth), of Highlands, NJ, parents of her grandchildren; Evan and Sara Giventer.
Mildred Graduated Linden High School in 1943, attended Union County Junior College and was employed at the Social Security Administration before having her two sons. Mildred worked at The Fountains in Staten Island for twelve years assisting with renting, co-oping and managing the building. In 1982, after the death of her dear husband, she worked in the World Trade Center Building One in money management and law for several years. Following that she worked as an assistant to a Real Estate Construction manager in North Brunswick, NJ at Midas Realty Corp, a division of Midas Mufflers.
In the 90’s Mildred started a wonderful senior group called ‘Savvy Seniors’. It still in existence to this day, and has been responsible for many happy occasions and friendships between many seniors who are still sharing experiences today. Mildred resided at Seabrook Village in Tinton Falls, NJ and Brandywine Living in Howell, NJ where she taught Mah Jong and a class called ‘Remember When’, where seniors compare happenings and experiences in their early years to now. Mildred loved people all of her life, and will be remembered for her friendship and caring about her fellow lifelong senior friends.
A private funeral service will be held for Mildred at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements handled by Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, NJ.
