Philip was born on February 6, 1949, in Brooklyn, New York. He later resided in Sayreville before making his home in Manalapan, New Jersey.
Philip was a devoted husband, loving father, and doting grandfather. Highly intelligent and quick-witted, he had a wonderful sense of humor and a personality that will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. A CPA, Philip worked as a CFO consultant throughout his career.
A lifelong sports fan, Philip could often be found cheering on his beloved New York Jets, Yankees, Knicks, and Rangers. He also enjoyed following and trading in the stock market. Those who knew him will remember his signature style—rarely seen without one of his button-down shirts, a pair of blue jeans, and his belt.
Above all, Philip treasured his family. In retirement, some of his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
Philip is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara S. Davis; his four children, Leighton Sheldon, Merrick Sheldon, Raynalin Gossett and her husband, Timothy, and Farynmai Rangam and her husband, Devkumar; and his six beloved grandchildren, Noah, Judah, Crosby, Jasmin, Kyla, and Tyger.
Funeral services will be private.
Shiva will be held at the Rangam home, 19 Outlook Lane, Freehold, New Jersey, on Monday, September 28, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.; Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
