

Phyllis Harriet Levitt, of Marlboro, NJ, passed away, Monday, October 9th, 2017 after a brief but difficult illness. Phyllis was born and raised in the Pelham Parkway area of The Bronx, NY, to parents Pearl and Julius Geller along with her Brother, Dr. Robert Geller. She relocated, along with her family, to the suburbs of Matawan, NJ in 1973. Here they resided for over 30 years. She was most recently a resident of Rosemount Estates in Marlboro.
Phyllis was married to William Levitt, her Highschool sweetheart, in 1965. They enjoyed 42 years of devoted marriage until his passing in 2008. Phyllis is survived by her Daughter Meryl Behrle and her husband Keith, with grandchildren Jordan and Tyler. Son Jules Levitt and wife Adra, with grandchildren Kaden and Rayana. Phyllis’ family was her pride and joy and she was always ready with stories of the grandchildren’s latest accomplishments and adventures!
Phyllis was a graduate of NYU School of Education, and outside of her family, teaching was the great passion of her life. She initially taught in The Bronx, before taking a break to raise her family. She returned to the classroom in the late 1980’s teaching at Strathmore and Ravine Drive Elementary Schools in Matawan/Aberdeen, before settling into the Perth Amby, NJ School District, Edward J. Patten Elementary, where she remained till her retirement.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 15th, 2017; 11:00am at Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapel, Manalapan, NJ. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge NJ.
