
Richard [Dick], an esteemed professor, a devoted attorney, and a loving family man, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 at the age of 84.
Born in 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Dick dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and justice. As a distinguished professor at William & Mary and Princeton University, he inspired generations of students through his captivating and engaging lessons
Dick is survived by his wife Rosalie Ash of 61 years; son Jeffrey Ash, his wife Sharron Ash, along with their three children – granddaughter Paige Ash, and grandsons Ethan Ash and Logan Ash. He is also survived by his daughter Mindy Ash, granddaughter Sedona Arminio and his youngest daughter Kimberly Ash and two granddaughters – Sydney Weltman and Lexie Weltman.
Dick was predeceased by his brother Robert Ash and their parents Maurice and Minerva Ash.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, New Jersey 07726 immediately followed by a committal at 2:00 PM at Mount Ararat Cemetery, 1170 Farmingdale Road, Farmingdale, New York 11735.
Shiva will be observed after the burial on Tuesday and Wednesday at the residence of Kimberley Ash. Shiva will be continued at the residence of Rosalie and Dick on Thursday afternoon and evening, Friday afternoon, Saturday evening, and Sunday afternoon.
