Richie is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 49 years, Phyllis Greenberg; daughter Cheryl Schafer and her husband Ian, of Westfield, NJ; daughter Laura Schiller and her husband Matthew, of Manalapan, NJ; and his six grandchildren: Carly, Brody, Michael, Madison, Chloe, and Sydney.
Richie brought unparalleled energy, expertise, and enthusiasm to all aspects of his life. He was a partner at Greenberg & Schulman in Woodbridge, New Jersey, where he specialized in trusts and estates and tax law. He was a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) as well as the past chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Taxation Law and Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Sections. Mr. Greenberg received his B.A. from Case Western Reserve University, his J.D. from St. John’s University, and his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University.
In addition to his legal practice, Richie was the life of any room he walked into and a walking encyclopedia of sports and music trivia. A lifelong Yankees fan and avid sports nut for all New York sports teams, Richie made countless memories with friends and family alike cheering on his teams all while concurrently keeping opposing fans in check and in awe with his unparalleled sports knowledge and uncanny sense of humor.
Richard was preceded in death by his sister Janet Greenberg and parents Monroe and Lyvia Greenberg.
