Sandra Persily, 81, of East Windsor, passed away peacefully on Feb. 17, 2019, at home, with her family by her side. Her long, courageous struggle has ended, and she has left this community a much better place for having been here. Sandy was the daughter of David and Betty Weissman, who predeceased her. She was born and raised in the Bronx, NY, where she had a childhood surrounded by many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was married to her husband, Melvin Persily, for 48 years before his passing in 2011. Sandy and Mel moved to East Windsor in 1968, where they raised their family and where Sandy continued to live after Mel's passing. Sandy held many jobs during her lifetime, but none was more important to her than that of mother and grandmother. She derived much pleasure in her later years when she became the babysitter for several years for her granddaughters. The closeness she shared with them was a source of much happiness for her over the last few years. Sandy will be missed greatly by the family she leaves behind as well as by the large network of friends she built over her amazing lifetime. She is survived by her younger brother, Jerry Weissman, of New York; her daughter and son-in-law Karen and Gary Glantz, of East Brunswick; her sons and daughters-in-law Marc and Robin Persily of Marlboro and Eric and Cyndi Persily of Charleston, WV; and by her seven grandchildren, Sara and Beth Glantz, Chloe, Jesse, and Jacob Persily, and Allie and Aaron Persily. Words cannot adequately describe or capture the true spirit and life of Sandy Persily.
A funeral service for Sandra will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2019 11:00 AM at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ 07726 followed by a committal at Beth El - Perrineville Jewish Center Cemetery, 755 Perrineville Road, Perrineville, New Jersey 08535.
