She passed on Rosh Hashanah, a day when only very special people pass, according to Jewish tradition.
Sheila was born in Brooklyn, the daughter of Jacob and Necha Mendle Gutstein. She married Victor Rosen in 1953. Together they spent many happy years in Bergen Beach, Brooklyn, where they raised their children, Sheryl and Allan. They relocated to Marlboro in 1986. Victor predeceased Sheila in 1997.
Sheila was kind and caring and loved spending time with family and friends who meant everything to her. Sheila was an amazing mother and grandmother who could always be counted on to be there, to truly listen and understand, to support, encourage, advise and lavish hugs. She exuded warmth, optimism, cheerfulness and contagious excitement. Sheila was a circulation desk librarian at the Monmouth County Library in Manalapan and was warmly greeted by library patrons who encountered her about town. She is lovingly remembered and sorely missed.
Sheila is survived by her two children: Allan Rosen and his wife, Mimi; and Sheryl Kaplan and her husband, Steven. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Niki and Joshua Kaplan, and Joshua’s wife, Jenna.
A graveside service will be held for Sheila on what would have been her birthday, this Tuesday at 1PM, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, New Jersey. Interment will immediately follow.
