Stan was born April 8, 1951 in Queens, NY and grew up in Hewlett, NY with his parents, Ephraim and Renee, and his brother, Bob. He graduated from George W. Hewlett High School in 1969, where he was a star athlete, and attended college at Hofstra University. He then moved to New York City, where he met his wife, Elena, and later to Princeton Junction, NJ, where he raised his son, Jonathan. His illustrious career spanned almost 40 years as he held CEO/President positions at American Express, Lenox, and Miles Kimball.
In 2012, he happily retired to sunny West Palm Beach, FL, where he spent the remainder of his healthy days playing golf, painting beautiful artwork, watching Yankees games, and spending mornings with friends at the bagel shop. He is remembered for his generosity, unflappable kindness, and warm spirit, both in business and in life. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Elena Krangel, his son Jonathan Krangel and his wife Juliann Igo, his brother Bob Krangel and his wife Sue, and his best friend of 63 years, Michael Yohai and his wife Stefanie, whom he considered family.
A graveside service at King Solomon Cemetery in Clifton, NJ will be held on Wednesday, January 25th at 11:00 am, with shiva to follow at Bob Krangel’s home in Manalapan.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Friends of the Hebrew University, where Stan was a board member for many years: https://www.afhu.org/
