Sylvia Birnbaum, 98, of West Windsor passed on Wednesday July 29, 2026, at Bear Creek Assisted Living, West Windsor, NJ. She was born in Brooklyn, NY and resided there before moving to New Jersey in 2021.
Sylvia worked in New York City as a law librarian for the New York State Supreme Court.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sol Birnbaum, whom she was married to for 62 years. She was also preceded by her brother, Murray Abramowitz.
Surviving are her daughter Phyllis Birnbaum Delasotta and her husband Fernando, her son Alan Birnbaum and his wife Darlene, her grandchildren, Lawrence, Lisa, Matthew, Brittany, Andrew and Taylor, and her great-grandchildren, Gemma, Gia, Leo, Caden, Margot, Jackson and Romi.
Shiva will be held at the Birnbaum home, 9 Pleasant Valley Way, Princeton Junction, NJ 08550 on Monday, August 3 and on Tuesday, August 4 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm each day.
Shiva will also be held at the Delasotta home, 8001 Bayshore Dr, Margate, NJ 08402 on Wednesday, August 5 and on Thursday, August 6 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm each day.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ 07726. Friends and extended family should arrive between 10:15 am and 10:45 am to pay their respects to the family prior to the 11:00 am service. Burial will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704.
