Tina Arky, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at age 91, just five days short of her 92nd birthday. She died after a brief period of treatment for cancer, surrounded by family until the very end.
Tina was born to Daniel and Regina Guber on April 8, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in Bensonhurst. As a teenager, she met her first husband, Harvey, and they married in 1954. In 1963, they moved their young family to the newly built community of Strathmore in Matawan Township, New Jersey, where she built deep roots over the next four decades. She was a founding member of Temple Beth Ahm, reflecting her strong connection to family, tradition, and community.
After Harvey’s passing in 1975, Tina found love again with Robert Arky, and they married in 1977. Together, they built a warm and enduring blended family and shared a loving marriage that lasted 48 years. Tina and Bob traveled throughout the United States and abroad, especially enjoying many trips to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In 2001, they moved a short distance away to Renaissance at Manalapan, where they continued to build friendships and remain actively engaged in their community. Tina enjoyed many years of tennis, mahjong, and bridge, forming lasting friendships through
these activities, and continued to play mahjong and bridge until just a few weeks ago.
She had a sharp mind, a strong sense of responsibility, and a deep commitment to those she loved. She was devoted to her family and always present when it mattered. She valued education, hard work, and doing what was right, and she passed those values on to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, Robert Arky; her daughter, Hope Mandel; her son, Howard Gross (Marcie Edelman Gross); her stepdaughter, Ellen Arky; and her stepson,
Larry Arky (Kathy Arky). She is also survived by her brother, Milton Guber; her grandchildren, Aaron Lorenz, Janet Lorenz, Abby Arky, Benjamin Arky, Beth Christensen, and Sam Christensen; and her great-grandchildren, Shiloh Lorenz and Max Okorji. She shared a close and special bond with her niece, Stacey Cohen. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harvey Gross, and her brother, Alvin Guber.
She will be remembered for her strength, her loyalty, and the lasting role she played in the lives of her family.
