Wendy was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, later making her home in Queens and Rosedale. A dedicated and passionate nurse, she spent over 25 years caring for the most vulnerable — the tiniest newborns — in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, working at both St. John's Episcopal Hospital and North Shore University Hospital, and also serving as a private nurse.
Beyond her career, Wendy had a vibrant creative spirit. She was a gifted crafter who made beautiful baskets for every occasion, mastered the art of calligraphy, and was a talented seamstress — so skilled that she once designed and sewed a full wedding dress for a friend. She had a love of sunshine and was known to ride with the top down on her first car, a LeMans convertible, sun reflector in hand. And through it all, she was a die-hard New York Yankees fan.
She is predeceased by her parents Maxwell and Marilyn Brudner, her sister Ilene Brudner, and her brother-in-law Lawrence Sarnelli.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Brudner Sarnelli; her sons Brandon Taylor (and daughter-in-law Alysa) and Aaron Lurie (and wife Vanessa); her beloved Lara Jaye and husband Lance Pilkerton; her grandchildren Shawn and Lexi, Justin, Merissa, Angelica, Christian, and Alexander; her nieces Lara Jaye, Danielle Sarnelli, and great-nieces Winter and Madison; and the countless lives she touched as a nurse, and as a friend.
A Funeral Service will be held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 44 Wilson Avenue, Manalapan, NJ 07726, on Monday, May 18, 2026, at 11:00 am. Friends and extended family should arrive between 10:15 am and 10:45 am to pay their respects to the family before the service.
