Barbara A. Brown, 83, of Manchester, died June 17, 2018 at the Hanover Hill Healthcare Center after a short illness. She was born in Manchester on November 10, 1934 the daughter of Walter H. and Marion G. (Brooks) Duguay and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Manchester West High School.
Following her graduation, she was employed as a telephone operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph Company with 15 years of service. She was a member of St. Pius X Church volunteering at numerous parish functions and also enjoyed her time spent as a volunteer with the Girl Scout in Manchester. After her retirement, Barbara enjoyed traveling, especially taking trips to Foxwoods and Las Vegas and was also an avid Bingo player. She loved getting together with family and friends and will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend.
She was predeceased by her husband of 21 years Walter “Salty” Brown Jr. in 1993, by her brothers Kenneth Duguay and Donald Duguay, by her sisters Arline Gaffney and Dorothy Cote and by her companion of 8 years George Collins.
Members of her family include her niece and caregiver Suzanne Hines and her companion Graham Baker of Hooksett, her sister-in-law Doris Duguay of Manchester as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday June 23 from 9:30 to 11 am at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester with a Funeral Service celebrated at 11 am in the funeral home. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Barbara’s name be made to the Manchester Animal Shelter 490 Dunbarton Rd. Manchester, NH 03102.
