

Donald J. LaBrie, 80, of Manchester passed away at his residence Tuesday evening, November 18, 2014 following a short illness. A lifelong resident of Manchester, he was born here on March 29, 1934, the son of Frank and Rita (Lambert) LaBrie.
He was a combat Army veteran of the Korean War. After receiving an Honorable High School Diploma, he embarked on a very successful sales career and was known as a Master Salesman. Many people knew him as “Donald Duck”
Donald has been very active in retirement; he has been involved with his wife Rita in many volunteer projects from work with the Precious Blood Monastery to handling donations from BJ’s bakery of goods to the Liberty House, Senior Center among others. Rita and Don acted as caretakers for the Veteran’s section of Mount Calvary Cemetery and Don was a vital part in the 100 Nights of Remembrance honors at the cemetery. He was a proud veteran and was honored that his image is a part of the Korean War monument at the NH veterans Cemetery.
He was young at heart and was a former Gold Medalist in the Senior Olympics; a dedicated blood donor and participated in walking, golfing and bowling. He was always quick to share his wisdom with “Pepé Pointers” with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rita (Vincent) LaBrie of Manchester; three daughters , Diane Davis and her husband Phillip of Manchester, Cindy Walker and her husband Jim of Manchester, Claire Garvey and her husband Matt of Yardville NJ; three sons, Bobby LaBrie and his wife Linda of Concord, Donny LaBrie and his wife Ruth of Manchester and Frankie LaBrie of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Antoinette Ingram and Doris Dube; two brothers, Maurice LaBrie and Frank LaBrie; several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a sister Helen Baril and a brother Armand LaBrie.
Calling hours were on Thursday from 4 to 7 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday at 12:30 PM in Ste. Marie Church. Burial with military honors followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
