

Don was born February 10, 1938, in East Aurora, New York and grew up in Chatham, New Jesey where he attended Pingry Private School for Boys in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, graduating in 1956.
At Pingry, Don played soccer and was their diving champion and went on to compete, and win, the New Hampshire and Vermont State Diving Championships in 1960 and 1961. He was also the YMCA Boys Swimming Team coach where they twice won the New England Swim Team Championship.
After graduating from Pingry, Don joined the US Army as they offered a six-month training program and then serving eight years in the US Army Reserves. During that time, he also worked for Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. at the New Boston Satellite Tracking Station when tensions with the Soviet Union and the United States was at its peak.
Don is predeceased by his parents, Eleanor and J. Ralph Van Duyne of Bedford, NH and Spring Hill, Florida and by his older brother, Jack, and his sister, Susan. Don married the love of his life, Rosamond Westney in 1962, where he told her on their fourth date, he knew she was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. They were married for 62 ½ years.
Don attended Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. And finished his degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of NH in Durham in 1968. After graduation his first job was with Sander’s Associates in Nashua, NH and then joined a new start-up company called Incoterm in Massachusetts. He also worked for Wang Laboratories in Mass for twelve years. His last job was with Lau Technologies that then created a spin-off Company called Viisage where they were developing facial recognition. Don’s jobs always included travelling extensively all around the world, including not only Europe and Scandinavian Countries, but Bahrain, Dubai, Kuwait, Beijing, Singapore, Canada, Alaska and all over the U.S. Don is survived by his loving wife, Rosamond (Roz) and son, John, granddaughter, Marisa and her mother, Kerri of Hawaii and brother Peter and wife Terrie of Maine.
My son and I would like to thank all the staff for their caring support at Villa Crest Nursing home and Catholic Medical Center, for the care they gave Don.
