Elizabeth moved to the United States in 1922 and resided in Berlin, NH, where she attended schools in Berlin, NH. She married Edgar Chaisson in 1940; had Richard J. Chaisson in 1941, moved to So. Portland, Maine, and had Lorraine in 1942. While in Maine, she worked at a fish factory during WWII. The family moved to NH in 1944 and established themselves in Manchester. A second son, Michael, was born in 1953. Elizabeth worked at N.H. Worster (a woolen mill); MKM (a clothing factory); Sanders Associates (electronics, gov’t contracts); and finally at Sylvania (manufacturing lightbulbs). She retired in 1987 to care for her ailing husband.
Nana, as she was lovingly known to all her family, was very active in the lives of each member from caring for mothers and households when grandchildren or great-grandchildren were born, to taking her grandsons to Indian Head and Cannon Mtn for a tram ride! She was kind, generous, loving; and we never heard an unkind word uttered about another. Now that’s amazing!
She accepted Jesus as her personal Savior in 1978 and became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Derry, NH, until she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law in Northfield, NH, in 1993, joined and became an active and faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. She enjoyed being an active member of the Senior Saints Group for many years. Her faith and walk with the Lord were evident in her prayer life in which needs were listed, updated and held before the Throne of Grace daily. She was known as a “Prayer Warrior.” To some she was an ethical and moral compass and had a tremendous ability to forgive and forget. She was sweetness personified.
Private family services will be held later in the month at McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., Manchester, NH, after which a graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Manchester, NH.
