

Galen R. Benjamin, 57, of Hooksett, died June 29, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He was born on May 2, 1956 in Manchester the son of Clarence and Gloria (Culver) Benjamin. He grew up in Manchester and was educated in the Queen City School System graduating from Manchester Central High School in 1974. He also attended the former New Hampshire College.
He was the owner of JHB Construction for many years. He also worked for Kamco Supply Co. of Boston in their Londonderry office until February of 2010.
Galen was a talented woodworker, loved the outdoors and could always be found tending his garden. He had numerous hobbies but his favorites were cooking, reading and fishing. He loved games and get-togethers with family and friends. This always brought out his competitive nature.
Members of his family include his wife of 31 years Sandra (Hill) Benjamin of Hooksett, his daughter Jessica Benjamin also of Hooksett, his two sons Jason Benjamin of Manchester and Ryan Benjamin of Hooksett, his mother Gloria Benjamin of Manchester, his two brothers Royd Benjamin and his wife Cheryl of Manchester and Wade Benjamin of Barnstead and his sister Dina Marshall and her husband Steve of Goffstown as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was looking forward with joy to the birth of his first grandchild in December.
Visitation was held on Saturday July 6 from 10 to 11AM at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Manchester St. corner of Beech St. followed by a Memorial Service in the funeral home. Committal will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Galen’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 114 Perimeter Rd. Units G & H Nashua, NH 03063 or to the American Cancer Society 2 Commerce Dr. Suite 110 Bedford, NH 03110.
