Harriet W. Bartlett
June 7, 1924 – September 23, 2018
Harriet W. (Shaw) Bartlett, 94, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2018 at Bentley Commons in Bedford, with her children by her side, after a brief illness. She was born in Quincy, Mass. on June 7, 1924 the daughter of Guy and Alice (Hiltz) Shaw. She grew up in the Quincy area, the eldest of three daughters and was educated in the local school system. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband of 61 years, Maurice “Bart” Bartlett in 20074.
Harriet was a career woman in an age when most women remained at home. She lived an interesting life, moving from Massachusetts with her husband and family to purchase and run an old country store in northern New Hampshire. Later she held many interesting positions to include the office manager at John Hancock Insurance Company in Manchester and later the Executive Assistant to the Museum Director at the Currier Gallery of Art in Manchester.
Harriet and Bart enjoyed an early retirement and moved to Florida in 1983. Not content to sit at home, she attended the Community College to hone her computer skills and, using those skills, ran the office for the Pineland Homes Construction Company in Englewood, Florida. In 2009, she returned to New Hampshire and lived with her son Kevin and his wife Claire before moving in at Bentley Commons Assisted Living in Bedford in 2015. She continued a busy lifestyle playing bridge, solving the daily crossword puzzle, was an avid reader and shopping-especially with Amazon. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend.
Members of her family include son Kevin Bartlett and his wife Claire of Weare, her daughter Melanie Gianferante and her husband Jim of Manchester and her estranged son Guy F. Bartlett of Englewood, FL.
Visitation was held on Wednesday October 3 from 5 to 7 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. Burial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Her family requests that memorial donations in Harriet’s name be made to the charity of one’s choice.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Aunt Harriet, Kevin and Melanie. It's been years but she reminded me of my mom.

Kevin, Claire, Melanie and Jim ,
Sorry for your loss. Sorry I will not be able to attend the services but my thoughts and prayers will be with you all.
I loved talking to Aunt Harriet, and occasionally I heard my mother's voice in hers. We spoke often both about our immediate families and our family genealogy. She lived a long life and I hope now she is reunited with the rest of the family.
