Julie Madeline Decarlo

Born on December 5, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John and Michalina (Molis) Balkus.Born and raised in Manchester, Julie was one of three girls in her family. Julie worked for many years in the shoe industry in Manchester. Upon retiring from that, she and her husband Joe spent many years gardening at The Highlander Inn. They designed and cared for many large gardens on the 30 acre property making perfect backdrops for weddings and holidays.

Julie’s other passion was her sewing. For many years, she designed and sewed all of her own clothes including her coats and hats, her many matching tops and shorts, all of bright cotton prints.

As Julie got older, she kept her mind active playing word search puzzles and keeping up with the news. Her passion for eating a good flavorful meal never left her. Always leaving room for a nice dish of ice cream at the end.

Julie saw many changes in life in her nearly 100 years. She was a hard working person who will be fondly remembered by her old and new friends alike. We will miss her.

A graveside service for Julie will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald Street, Bedford, NH 03110.
