Louis F. Buxton

September 18, 1931December 12, 2013

Louis F. Buxton, 82, of Manchester passed away December 12, 2013 at Hanover Hill Health Care Center following a lengthy illness. A lifelong resident of Manchester, he was born here on September 18, 1931, the son of Roy and Irene (Hall) Buxton.

Prior to his retirement he worked for over 22 years as an assembler at the General Electric plant in Hooksett. Mr. Buxton was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #9347.

He was cherished by his family as a great father and husband and in their word as “an all-around good person”. He loved gardening and reading and was an expert at tinkering with clocks. Louis was a fan of country and bluegrass music and traditional country artist, Lee Moore. He learned to play the Dobro guitar and when the loss of eyesight forced him to give up playing he gave the Dobro to his doctor, Dr. Pender so that the music would play on.

His beloved wife Sally (Young) Buxton died on April 13, 2012.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Couture and Lynn Manseau and her husband Duane, all of Manchester; six grandchildren, Jason Couture, Stephen Couture, Andrew Couture, Justin Buxton, Christopher Manseau and Patrick Manseau; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Gathering was held in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St, on Thursday, December 19th beginning at 9:30 AM. A Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Douglas Rickard was held at 10 AM in the funeral home. Urn burial with military honors followed in Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the NH Association for the Blind, 25 Walker St., Concord NH 03301.

Diane and Lynn,
So sorry for your loss! Louis and your Mom were two great people on this Earth. Jesus is smiling in Heaven to have them together, again. I worked at GE with your Dad and we used to eat lunch together and talk about everything but especially about his lovely wife and girls, who he loved very much! Hope to see him again when it's my time to enter Heaven! God Bless!

I enjoyed caring for Louis and Sally, and I will miss them. Louis and I often talked about bluegrass music, and I was honored to accept his Dobro when he could no longer play. Please accept my sincere condolences. Paul Pender MD
