Maria Karoutsos

A loving wife and intensely devoted mother, Maria touched everyone she met with her kindness, compassion and humor. She was adored by her family and friends, and was known to all as a sweet and gentle woman who was always eager to help others. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening, and was active for many years in Manchester's Greek community.

Born Maria Theofanis in Athens, Greece, on August 28, 1931, Maria immigrated to Manchester in 1967. In 1970 she met Rigas Karoutsos, of Ikaria, Greece. They were married in 1971 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Maria is survived by her husband, Rigas, her children George, of Manchester, and Demetrios, of Washington DC, grandson Riley, and many nieces and nephews in Greece and the United States.

Services will be held on Monday, March 28th with a visitation from 9am-10am and a Mass from 10am-11:00am at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located at 650 Hanover St, Manchester NH. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery located at 765 Brown Ave, Manchester NH.
