

Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, June 19th, 1933, she was the daughter of Lucien and Eva (Touchette) Boisvert. She came to the United States in 1943, living in Hudson and Nashua. She resided in Manchester since 1965. She retired at age 65 from Modutek as a technician.
Muriel thoroughly enjoyed dancing and music in her teenage years. She was always strong willed and rebellious. She was never shy about speaking her mind and doing what she felt was right. She was always knowledgeable about politics and never wavered in her beliefs. She instilled in her children strict morals, as well as a strong sense of independence. Her friends and family looked to her for her advice and respected her for her candid opinions. Muriel shared a strong bond of family and tradition with her sister, Carmen. Throughout their lives, they bound their two separate families together as one. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Her children were the most important things in her life.
She was survived by a daughter, Brenda L. Birk of Manchester; two sons, Kevin D. Birk, of Hillsboro, and Brian K. Birk of Manchester; three grandchildren, Brittany A. Birk, Jessica R. Birk, and Ryan M. Shorey; and many nieces and nephews and extended family. Mrs. Birk was predeceased by her husband Hobert E. Birk and her sister, Carmen Light.
Calling hours were on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech St. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday at 10 AM in St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Rd., Manchester. Burial followed in the NH Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen NH at noon. Memorial donations could be made to “Patient Services Fund,” Manchester Kidney Center, at 1750 Elm Street, Suite 100, Manchester, NH 03104.
