

Muriel I. Howard, 71, of Manchester passed away November 14, 2013 at Hanover Hill Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springvale, ME on December 11, 1941, the daughter of Frank and Flora (Hill) Morrill.
She was raised in Sanford, ME and moved to Manchester in the mid 1970’s. Muriel was employed for many years at J.F. McElwain Shoe Company and later at Home Insurance and in the kitchen of Harborside Healthcare until illness forced her retirement.
She was a member of the Manchester Baptist Church and attended Bethany Chapel. Muriel enjoyed the simple pleasures of life including spending time with her grandchildren, shopping and taking car rides.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Howard of Manchester; her daughter Deborah Rood and her husband Mark Rood of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Morrill of Somersworth NH; two sisters, Lillian Ashton of Manchester and Elaine Johnson of Rochester, NH.
There were no calling hours. A Memorial Ceremony was held Saturday, November 23rd in the Bethany Chapel, 54 Newbury Rd., Manchester. The Rev. Dr. Vera M. Wingate, Pastor officiated.
