Pauline L Turgeon, 86, died peacefully on April 13, 2018 surrounded by her loving family and the Compassionate Care Hospice Team after a period of declining health. She was born in Manchester on April 21, 1931 the daughter of Napoleon and Ilova (Brouillette) Turgeon and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. She was educated at St. George Parish Elementary and High School and was a graduate of Notre Dame College in Manchester.
Prior to her retirement she was employed as an office worker by Daven Industries for many years while completing her studies and earning her degree in teaching. In 1968, she became a teacher at Hillside Middle School in Manchester where she taught eighth grade science for more than 20 years. Pauline was a longtime communicant of St. George Church and most recently of St. Pius X Church. She was a member of the Women of Mary and the Social Committee at St. Pius X.
Pauline enjoyed skiing and spending time at her camp on Governor's Lake in Raymond, NH with her longtime friend, Cecile Bourque. Following her retirement in 1991, she lived a quiet life with Cecile becoming a provider and caretaker for her until her death in 2010.
She is survived by her sister-in-law Yvonne Turgeon, her niece and godchild Lina Fecteau and her husband David, two nephews Paul Turgeon and his wife Suzanne and Jean Turgeon and his wife Eva, all of Manchester, her niece Elaine Trottier of Chicopee, MA, two additional nephews Raymond Turgeon and his wife Marie of Franklin and Andre Turgeon of Manchester, a special grand-niece and godchild Sue Rasmussen of Silverdale, WA with whom she was always in touch, several grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great grand-nieces, great grand-nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her best friend Cecile Bourque, her brother Donald Turgeon and two half-brothers Lionel Turgeon and Wilfred Turgeon.
There was a time of visitation on Tuesday April 24 from 10 to 10:30 am at St. Pius X Church 575 Candia Rd. in Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. Committal prayers followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum. Her family requests that memorial donations in Pauline’s name be made to the Catholic Charities-New Hampshire 215 Myrtle St. Manchester, NH 03104 or to the Sisters of the Precious Blood 700 Bridge St. Manchester, NH 03104. The McHugh Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family with her care.
