

Raised in Manchester, he was graduated from Central High School, class of 1967 and went on to study at Wentworth Institute and later received a double Master’s degree from Lowell Technical Institute.
He taught physics and engineering at Northeastern University and later began a career with Boston Edison and its successor companies. He was a Senior Radiological Engineer for several decades at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Plymouth, MA. He returned to Manchester in 2008.
He enjoyed racquetball and will be remembered for his generosity to other people as well as his love of cooking and grilling.
He is survived by a daughter, Yulanda “Lanni” Barbuzzi and her husband James of Manchester; a son, Joseph Karatzas of Nahant, MA; two grandchildren, Alexa Barbuzzi and Vincent Barbuzzi, both of Manchester; a brother, Nicholas Karatzas of Hampton, NH; nephews Tim Karatzas of Mass and Evan Karatzas of NH.
Calling hours were on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM in the McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover St. The Trisagion service was held at 5:30 PM. A funeral ceremony was held on Friday at 11 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
