

Sandra Ann Proulx, 77, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14th 2025 after a period of declining health. Born on July 21, 1947 in Manchester, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Florence Bean (Desjardins).
Sandy was a lifelong resident and was educated in the Catholic School System. She met her husband Roger when she was just 14 and he was 16). What started as a teenage romance blossomed into a loving marriage of nearly 56 years. They were each other’s best friend, and they were lost without one another. They were always a big hit at any family wedding. They surprised many guests by dancing the jitterbug to the Glen Miller Band’s “In the Mood”, until he was no longer able to remember all of the steps.
For many years she had a baked goods and candy business with her best friend JoAnne Connolly, Dandy Candy by Jo and Sandy. They made cakes for many special occasions, including Cindy and Matthew’s wedding cake. Sandy also helped those in her community by cleaning their homes when they were no longer able to. She loved to cook, bake, sew, and share her passions with others.
She was a parishioner of St. Anne-St. Augustin Parish where she was a very active member within the Church community. She and Roger were recognized for all that they had done for sponsoring the first wave of African immigrants, of whom they became godparents to some of their children. In 2013 they were awarded the Granite State Organizing Project Micah award.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy Sanborn and her husband Matthew of Manchester; son Russell Proulx and his wife Ruth Milena Machado of Oviedo, FL; adopted daughter Shelby Bailey and her husband Clarke of Manchester; sister Marguerite Joyce of Manchester; brother in law Arthur Proulx and his wife Pauline of Manchester; grandchildren Nicole Sanborn and her fiance Tristan Forcier of Manchester and Elis Morett of Oviedo, FL; adopted grandchildren Nicholas Gruber and his wife Kristi Gruber of Jaffrey; Nathan Gruber and his wife Avis Gruber of Midway Park, NC; Violet Williams and her husband Dustin of Maryland; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She is predeceased by her husband Roger Proulx in 2022, sister Florence Cote in 2017, and sister Jeanette Wike in 2003.
A visitation will be held from 3-7pm on Friday, March 21st at McHugh Funeral Home located at 283 Hanover St, Manchester.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 22nd at St. Anne-St. Augustin Parish located at 382 Beech St, Manchester.
A burial to follow immediately at St. Augustin Cemetery located at 383 Beech St, Manchester.
