Simone R. Mayo, 87, of Manchester, died January 25, 2017 at the Villa Crest Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Manchester on June 4, 1929 the daughter of George and Gertrude (Olivier) Beaudet and was a lifelong resident of the Queen City. She was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Central High School.

She was married to the love of her life, Clem Mayo in 1951 and together they shared a life of love and devotion to each other for 52 years until his passing in 2003. Simone was a woman who always put her family first. Her devotion to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unbounded. She loved all children and was known as “Grammy” by many. She brightened the world with her smile and shared her love of children, gardening, dancing and nature with all. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister Jeanine Wentworth.

Members of her family include her son, James Mayo and his wife Annette of Raymond, her daughters Janet Mayo and her partner Sheila Vahey of Strafford, Michelle Erickson and her husband Gerald of Phoenix, Arizona, Lisa Corson and her husband Mark of Manchester and Jennifer Mayo of Hooksett, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, her brother Paul Beaudet and his wife Yvette of Florida and her sister Claire Babineau of Texas as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Friday February 3 from 4 to 7 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday February 4 at noon at St. Catherine of Siena Church 207 Hemlock St. Manchester. Entombment followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Simone’s name be made to the Inn at Deerfield 34 Ridge Rd. Deerfield, NH 03037 or to the Alzheimer’s Association 166 So. River Rd.
