

Manchester, NH - Stanley John Maesk, 95, longtime resident of Manchester, passed away peacefully at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton on June 4, 2025, surrounded by family. Affectionately known as Stan to everyone who knew him, he was born in Newburyport, MA on January 6, 1930, to his late parents Benjamin and Victoria (Pikor) Maskiewicz. Raised and educated in Nashua, he graduated from Nashua High School with the Class of 1948. After high school, like many of his generation Stan enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he married the love of his life, the late Patricia Ann (Linehan) Maesk, in 1955 and celebrated 45 years of marriage together until her passing in October 2000.
Stanley, who was a highly skilled and master blacksmith, owned and operated Maesk Ornamental Iron Works. Known for doing most of the iron railing work across Manchester, it was said that he could craft beautiful iron work in his sleep. Besides being a man with a deep and solid work ethic, Stan who would always put his family first, did enjoy fishing, spending time on the water, gardening, or trying his luck at a hand of poker. He was a selfless person, who believed in honest work for an honest wage, would often help those who were less fortunate than himself. Stan, who was a fixture in the community, also devoted his time and energy supporting veterans with the Henry J. Sweeney American Legion Post. He touched many lives in many different circles and will fondly be loved, cherished, and missed by all.
As the beloved patriarch of his family, Stan is survived by his four children, his daughter Catherine Maesk of Manchester, his son Steven Maesk of Manchester, his son Douglas Maesk and his husband Noel Serra of Tamarac, FL, and his daughter Tricia Maesk, also of Manchester. He was the cherished grandfather to his two grandchildren, Dylan Desroches and Hayley Desroches. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Stan was predeceased by his three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation for Stan will be held on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover Street, Manchester. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the conclusion of visitation at the funeral home. Interment with military honors to follow at Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, 488 Donald Street, Bedford.
