

Alfred Beyer, 90, of Manchester, NJ, passed away at his home, on Saturday December 1, 2012. Born and lived on Staten Island, a resident of Westerleigh. Married to Doris C. Brown from West Brighton who predeceased him on April 16, 1998, there were no children. In 1940, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was stationed at the Idaho and worked Elco Boat Co. in Bayonne, NJ, building torpedo boats. Alfred was a WWII Veteran whom served in China Burma and India with the 472nd truck regiment for 2 ½ years. His Unit received three meritorious Service Unit Citations, One Presidential Citation and an Award from Generalisimo Chiang Kai-shek. Alfred worked as a bus mechanic at a Staten Island bus garage for NYC Transit Authority for 25 years, retiring in 1974. In 1900, he and Doris moved to Leisure Knoll in Manchester, NJ. He belonged to the National AARP Association, North Shore AARP Chapter # 3789, North Shore VFW Post # 7172 in Westerleigh, American Legion Post # 0166, Lakewood, NJ National CBI Veterans Association and NJ CBI Veterans Basha.
A Private funeral was held by Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, Manchester, NJ. Interment was in the Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Wrightsown, NJ.
