

Arthur R. Lukshis, 79, of Manchester Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3rd, 2025, in Neptune, NJ, surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born in Newark on April 18th, 1946 to parents Adam and Julia (nee Jasukaitis) Lukshis and raised in Matawan, NJ,. He attended and graduated from Matawan Regional High School in 1965. Later that year, Arthur was drafted into the United States Army. He was assigned to the 125th Trans Co., achieving the rank of PVT E-1. During this time of service, he received the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign medals, and was classified as a sharpshooter. Arthur completed his service and left the Army in October of 1967. In December of 1981, Arthur enlisted with the Army National Guard. He worked as a chemical operation specialist and MRT transport. He achieved the rank of Sergeant, and earned several awards, the ARCAM 3rd award, the NDSM 2nd award, the AFRM, OSR, VSM, RVN, ASR, and the OSB 2nd awards. In March of 2004, Arthur retired from the Guard with 28 years of overall service.
Arthur was employed with Bristol Myers Squibb Pharmaceuticals as a computer operator , retiring in 2001, after 30 years. He met his future wife there, Elizabeth "Liz". They married in May of 1972 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge, NJ. Arthur and his wife moved from Matawan to Old Bridge in 1974. It was here that they raised their only child, Lisa. In December of 2001, he and his wife relocated to Phoenix, Az. In 2016, Arthur and Elizabeth "Liz" left Phoenix and settled in Manchester. It is here that he would remain until his passing.
Arthur had many hobbies. He enjoyed bowling, crabbing, horseshoes, softball, playing cards, calling bingo at the monthly veteran’s bingo, he loved talking about his time in the Army and the Army Guard, and telling a good dry sense of humor joke. He was a member of the Leisure Knoll Veterans Club, the Leisure Knoll Fishing Club, the Leisure Knoll Italian American Club, and the Leisure Knoll Social Club. Arthur will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Julia Lukshis.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth "Liz" (nee Vasquez) of Manchester, his daughter, Lisa Pongracz (nee Lukshis) and her husband Jody of Toms River, step-grandchildren, Christian Pongracz of Toms River, Hailey Pongracz of Philadelphia, PA., his sister, Judith Jankowski of Naples Florida, his brother, John Lukshis of West Palm Beach, Fla., his brother-in-law Mike Vasquez and his wife, Janet, of East Brunswick.
There will be a visitation with the family on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Rd., Manchester, NJ. A committal of ashes will take place on Monday, September 8th, 2025, at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in memory of Arthur to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (T2T.org). Condolences and tributes to the Lukshis family can be left on this site.
