Barbara Ann Ambler-Naples, age 67, of Manchester, NJ, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, at her second home in Goose Creek, SC, with her devoted husband of 10 years, Stephen Naples Jr., and their dog, Oliver, by her side. Barbara passed away following a brief but courageous battle with aggressive Metastatic Hepatocellular Carcinoma after being diagnosed on January 4, 2026.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Mary Ann (McCormack) Herblin and Robert Ambler, as well as her brother, Thomas Allan Ambler. She is survived by her husband, Stephen; her daughters, Lisa (Stinemire) Williams and her husband, Matthew, and Corrine Stinemire-Tordik and her husband, Mark; her stepson, Christian Naples; her beloved grandchildren, Mackenzie and Connor Tordik, and Savannah and Bethany Williams; her sister, Ann Marie (Ambler) Severini; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The oldest of three children, Barbara was born and raised in Tottenville, Staten Island, NY. She later moved to Edison, NJ, where she began her family with her former husband, Gregory Stinemire, welcoming daughters Lisa and Corrine. Shortly after the family settled in Manchester, New Jersey.
Barbara became a bus driver for the Lakewood School District while pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher, attending courses in the evenings at Georgian Court College. With the unwavering support of her family and through years of determination, sacrifice, and hard work, Barbara achieved one of her proudest accomplishments: earning her Bachelor's Degree and becoming a teacher. She later earned her Master's Degree from Stockton University.
Barbara went on to serve as an outstanding educator in the Manchester Township School District for more than 20 years. She took on leadership roles within the teachers' union, first serving as Corresponding Secretary and later as Union President. Barbara was an extremely dedicated, passionate, and engaging educator who advocated tirelessly for her students and colleagues. She believed every child deserved the opportunity to succeed and worked diligently to bring education to life in meaningful ways. Throughout her career, she touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on her students, colleagues, and community.
Barbara was a vibrant, charismatic, and spirited woman who lived life with enthusiasm and purpose. Sports were a lifelong passion and one of the many ways she built friendships and brought people together. She loved softball and tennis and later developed a fondness for golf. Whether she was serving as a coach, team captain, organizing a league event, coordinating an outing, or encouraging others to join in, Barbara naturally stepped into leadership roles. She loved competition, camaraderie, and the joy of being active with family and friends.
Barbara also shared a deep love for the beach with her family. Some of their happiest memories were made along the Jersey Shore, spending entire summer days riding waves, diving through the surf, and enjoying the ocean together. The beach, tennis court, softball field, and golf course were among Barbara's happiest places, especially when surrounded by those she loved!
Above all else, Barbara was devoted to her family and especially proud of her grandchildren. She took immense joy in supporting their interests, attending their activities, celebrating their accomplishments, and ensuring they had opportunities to pursue the things that brought them happiness. Whether cheering from the sidelines, attending performances, or simply spending time together, Barbara's greatest joy came from being involved in the lives of those she loved most.
Barbara's strength, determination, generosity, and spirit will live on through her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
A memorial visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 1 to 5 pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A Christian blessing will take place during the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Barbara's memory be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org).
