and friend. She was born in New York, NY. She met her husband, Kenneth, at a church bazaar when
they were 14 years old - and their long story of love and life together began.
Barbara always put others’ needs ahead of her own, and her three children were her top priority. She
raised her children with unwavering love and care. “A good foundation” is what she said all children
need to succeed in life, and she was the cornerstone on which her family built theirs. Barbara was
always a faithful and active participant in the Good Shepherd Church and Inwood community. When her
children were grown, she enjoyed her work at the Manhattan College Library.
ASer moving from her beloved New York City, she made her home in Newark, Delaware and formed
many lasting friendships. Retiring to Manchester, Barbara connected with countless people for whom
she would do anything to lend a helping hand. She delighted in trips to Lake George and Orlando and
more locally had fun bowling, exercising, reading and enjoying the sun and pool. She loved Elvis,
Dancing with the Stars, hot cross buns and her grandson, Alexander. She tirelessly rooted for the NY
Mets (Barbara was a woman of great faith!) while her husband Ken remains an ardent NY Yankees fan.
Baseball did not stand in the way of 58 years of marriage and adoration!
Barbara is survived by her loving husband Ken, children Catherine, Carol Venezia and husband Peter,
Kenneth, and grandson Alexander Venezia.
She was often a quiet person but her ability to love and care was resoundingly strong and empathetic.
Every day she called, texted or emailed each of her children just to be assured they were well, loved and
treasured. Barbara’s incredible strength, faith in God and ability to make everyone feel important
changed lives and will never be forgotten.
