Bernice Ella Dotzauer Ronnow

Bernice Ella Dotzauer Ronnow, age 98, of Whiting, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. Bernice was born in and grew up in Antonia, Missouri. Following high school, she lived in St. Louis, Missouri where she attended business school then worked at Concordia Publishing. It was in St. Louis that Bernice met her first husband, John Francis Dotzauer while he was in the service. They resided in many places, including Augusta GA, then in Newark, NJ, Menlo Park Terrace, Milltown, and Monroe, which is where she met her second husband Richard Ronnow and they moved to Manchester.

Religion was an important part of Bernice’s life. Bernice was a faithful parishioner of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manchester, NJ. She worked as a cosmetic consultant for several years at stores including Macy’s and JC Penney’s. She had a passion for baking cakes for her friends and family for special occasions. At age 80, she learned how to use the computer, making her own cards for the family even though she had limited vision. But what was most important to Bernice was her family.

Bernice was predeceased by her first husband, John F. Dotzauer (1980), and her second husband, Richard W. Ronnow (2022), her son Jon Dotzauer (2005), and her daughter Jyl Weeks (2023). She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline B. Brugh and her husband John, Joni L. Dotzauer, Jeri L. Rossi and her husband Richard, her stepson, William Ronnow, her brother, John Steinmeyer, her grandchildren, Ginger Montagna, Ingrid Johnson, Nicole Hogrebe and Isabella Rossi, her step grandchildren, Justin Ronnow and his wife Jessica, and Brittany Starling, her great grandchildren, Laura, Morgan, Trinity, Gunther, Hendrix, Marlee, Cash, Champ and Merrick, and her step great grandchildren, Scarlett, Skylar, Layla, Veronica, Loyal, Gianna and Isabella.

A visitation for Bernice will be held Monday, March 11, 2024, from 4 to 8 PM at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester, NJ 08759. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 11 to 11:45 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2309 Route 70, Manchester, NJ 08759. A committal service will follow at the Forest Green Memorial Park, 535 Texas Road, Morganville, NJ 07751.
